Captain Faramir of Gondor

Tuesday night I had some extra time before dinner. Captain Faramir was just sitting in my Army Transport all primed and nothing to do. So I woke him up, placed him on the painting table and now he has come to life.

Demo Games @ Talons’ Hideout

So last night at Talon’s Hideout I had the first night of LotR demo games.  While the owner Chris was waiting for his opponent Ben to finish up a WFB game, I had my two oldest sons get a 300 pt game in.

The Serpent Horde: Harad Warriors w/Bow

So this past weekend I promised the family that I would not go and get some gaming in (since I went Thursday night and Friday night). But I did tell her that I was going to paint this weekend.

So the Harad Warriors w/Bow hit the painting table. I now have a nice 20″ TV w/ DVD right next to my painting station, so on Saturday I watched “The Fellowship of the Ring”, and on Sunday it was “The Two Towers”. I accomplished what I wanted to this weekend and that was to complete the 10 Warriors w/Bow.

Here is one of the pictures on the Warriors. You can click HERE to see the others.

Harad Warrior w/Bow

These Warriors were the first time I tried the GW Foundation Paints, and the new GW Washes. I really do like the Foundation Paints. I am still undecided about the Washes. I’ll finish out the rest of the Army with the Washes just so the Army looks coherent.

Decided to start playing Hordes

So Hordes from Privateer Press has caught my attention. I’ve always loved the “Fantasy Realm” and I love games with a low model count (the reason I play LotR). I played in a quick demo game last week at one of our new Valley stores “Talon’s Hideout” and I enjoyed it. I will be heading back there tonight with my oldest son for some more demo games.

I also picked up a Legions army for myself and Skorne for my oldest son this past weekend. I think I will be doing Circle Orboros for my middle son. Hopefully I’ll have time to get these all painted along with all the LotR models I still have in the backlog.

Really looking forward to this game.

I assembled/based all the models the other night and starting painting the Bowmen last night. I hope to have the 10 Bowmen completed this weekend. I am thinking of running the following lists:

1 Haradrim Chieftain w/Bow
1 Haradrim Banner
20 Haradrim Warriors w/Spear
10 Haradrim Warriors w/Bow

350 Points
Models 33
Might 5

The Serpent Horde 600
1 Mumak w/Gnarled Hide & Haradrim Chrieftain
1 Suladan
1 Haradrim Banner
18 Haradrim Warriors w/Spear
9 Haradrim Warriors w/Bow

597 Points

LotR Indy GT was a success

The first ever The Lord of the Rings Indy GT here in Phoenix, AZ was a huge success. We had 14 players entered in the 2 Day event with one of them coming all the way from Tampa, FL. We plan on doing it again next year in cooler weather. We are thinking of running it the weekend of Feb 21st, 22nd 2009 and hopefully it will be on the GW Tournament Circuit so we can draw in some more of the National players. Looking forward to 2009.

The results are:

Best Overall: Frank Brown

Best Sportsman: Jerry Autieri

Best Appearance: Howard Beam

Best General: Anthony Pigati

2nd General: Sean Ramires

3rd General: Carl Matherly

Thanks to everyone who participated.
